I used to say this all the time, but the problem was that ‘one day’ never seemed to come. This is because I struggled to meaningfully focus on writing while balancing the tasks of everyday life:
I was too exhausted after a 9-5 job
I felt shame choosing art over family time
I didn’t have time to research Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or Lulu
And worse, I didn’t have any kind of plan!
For many of us, the dream of launching a book is constantly out of reach because we fail to develop a clear roadmap that helps us achieve our goals.
The roadmap we need is a proactive monthly plan that helps us capture the action items necessary to make forward progress. Without this tool, we can find ourselves in a reactive state, unsure of where to point our focus: We’ll miss deadlines. We’ll rewrite the same chapter ad nauseam. We’ll trick ourselves into starting new books instead of finishing the one in front of us.
Without a roadmap, ‘someday’ may never come.
I teach workshops at conferences on how authors can build these roadmaps, and they’ve been so popular that I’ve opened my bookings so authors can work with me directly.
I’m looking to work with speculative fiction authors who:
Have abandoned multiple novels
Are struggling to finish their first novel
Are uninspired and want to love the process of writing again!
Struggle to balance progress with other aspects of their life (work, chronic illness, family)
Want to know exactly what to do next (specifics, specifics, specifics!)
Imagine the joy of finally typing “The End” on your novel. Picture the pride of opening a box filled with copies of your book. Better yet, imagine the feeling of getting to finally share your story with the world and saying “Check it out, y’all, I did a thing!”
Click Here to Schedule your Author Roadmapping Call Today.
By the end of our session, you will:
Know exactly what motivates you as an author so you can hone your focus
Refine your goals to be clear, actionable, and attainable (Goodbye vague plans!)
Have a visual roadmap that tells you exactly what to do over the next 6 months to achieve your goals
For the first five people to book their call, I will read the first ten pages of your novel and provide key feedback on areas of strength and opportunity (This usually costs $150)
I’ve taught numerous authors how to apply strategic project management principles to their author journey within organizations like the Willamette Writers and the Horror Writers Association. These same principles allowed me to reduce my time to complete a novel from years to just a couple months, all while maintaining a day job.
If you’re ready to make forward progress on your novel and achieve the dream of a launch party, let’s work together.
I am an established author, but even I found this workshop helpful! I came out of it with a list of things to think about and do to make sure I was on track and what to do to keep me there.
I've taken this road mapping workshop from J.B. and it's so useful. He really does give you specific action items and tools to move forward.
