Roadmap Your Art is Evolving.
I'm rebranding and I want you to come along for the ride.
Hey folks, I’m excited to inform you that Roadmap Your Art is evolving, hopefully for the better. I’m ditching my original branding for something a bit more specific that lands closer to who I am as a creative.
Let’s talk about why.
I recently attended the Author Alchemy Summit in Portland, OR, hosted by the incredible
. It was an amazing experience. The single-track structure facilitated an intimacy that you just don’t see at larger writing conventions. As a result, I was able to have one-on-one conversations with a number of headlining authors and guest speakers. And throughout the weekend, as I listened to what they had to say on their panels and around the fire pit, I started to realize something about myself: I have a brand problem 😬At the end of the day, I have two passions:
Mentoring writers on productivity…
And writing the kind of horror fiction that I want more of in the world.
What I started to realize at the summit was that I had been over investing in one of these passions. My Substack’s exclusive focus on how writers can apply project management tools to their writing career was helping me grow a muscle in one area while causing atrophy in another. I want to help other authors, yes, but I also want to connect with readers who are looking for the type of stories that I’m telling.
So, moving forward, Roadmap Your Art will now be:
Structured Shadows.
For me, the rebrand touches on both interests: structure, organization, and helping writers accomplish their goals, while nodding toward my passion for the dark, the mysterious, the unsettling.
My goal is to start producing content that appeals to both readers and writers so I can continue having the types of conversations that make me excited to get out of bed.
I appreciate the support I’ve gotten thus far, and I hope my writing continues to engage and delight you. And if it doesn’t, then…idk…just print out the offending article and bury it in the garden where it belongs. Cheers!
Love the new banner. Obsessed. Excited for this new rebrand!
I think this is a fabulous move! And I'd love to chat more about the challenge of branding when you're a multi-hyphenate creative person. That's a challenge I've been trying to figure out a lot over the past year or so — and while I don't think I have it nailed, I definitely feel less like I'm being pulled in a dozen different directions.
